Green Building

Touchstone CPM is one of only a handful of general contractors in Ohio that is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and employs LEED accredited staff. We are active in not only constructing LEED projects, but educating others about the long-term benefits of green building practices.

What is Green Building?
Green building, also known as and green construction or sustainable building, is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from design to construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and post-occupancy. This practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort.

Although new technologies are constantly being developed to complement current practices in creating greener structures, the common objective is that green buildings are designed to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment by:

  • Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources
  • Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity
  • Reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation

What are the Benefits of Going Green?
Depending on your passion, LEED has benefits for everyone, from improved air and water quality to decreasing operation costs and increasing asset value and worker productivity,

Our Experience with Green Building
Being a member of the USGBC, experienced in green building project and supporting green building practices for the last several years, Touchstone CPM is truly committed to providing green building services for many years to come. In fact, Touchstone's parent company, Tuttle Services, recently rebuilt its corporate office building to LEED Gold Standards. Tuttle's new office building project was the first LEED Gold project in Lima, Ohio, Allen County and NW central Ohio. In December of 2008, at the time of the new building's completion, there were only 8 other LEED Gold projects (under LEED NC 2.2) in the State of Ohio.
